How do we move forward when life's disruptions wreck our expectations?
Have you ever had plans for your life that blew up in your face? Disruptions and dips in our lives can take many forms—the death of a loved one, the breakdown of a relationship, or an unexpected health struggle—leading us into times of trouble.
When these kinds of lifequakes interrupt our fairy tale life and throw a wrench in our plans, it can become a real fight to maintain our faith and composure. That’s why I wrote this book—because life has a way of taking unexpected turns that can leave us in despair, feeling helpless.
God’s chosen people, the Israelites were well acquainted with trouble. After centuries spent as captive slaves of the Egyptians, God called forth special individuals to lead His people to freedom in the Promised Land. One of those leaders was a man named Joshua. Like Joshua, God has an intricate, intentional plan for our lives. And like Joshua, our only way out of trouble is to go through it.
Joshua was one of God's mightiest warriors. He was also no stranger to tragedy.
I describe Joshua as a man whose life was dripping with destiny. From the time he was a young man, God’s hand of guidance led Joshua to become a leader among the Israelites.
Throughout Joshua’s story, he struggles with feelings of inadequacy. God chose Joshua to be Moses’ right-hand man and successor. Even still, he felt unworthy, inexperienced, and ill-prepared, but he had one powerful virtue that allowed him to follow God’s lead: his faith.
I can’t wait to share with you how Joshua persevered through tremendous doubt and sadness through faithful obedience to God. This is a story that resonates in the hearts of anyone who ever felt unworthy of the life God has called them to.
