America’s first Michelin Starred-Indian Chef Hemant Mathur catering for SACSS Gala 2022

America’s first Michelin Starred-Indian Chef Hemant Mathur catering for SACSS Gala 2022

This is SACSS’s first in-person gala since the pandemic and we are coming together by pulling out all the stops! What sort of delights will you be enjoying at our Gala 2022, you ask?

For one, the dinner at Gala 2022 “Coming Together, Striving Forward” will be catered entirely by America’s first Michelin Starred-Indian Chef Hemant Mathur, and featuring one of his specialty entrees. You will have to join us to find out which one!

With over 30 years of professional culinary experience, Chef Mathur is best known as a tandoor master of traditional clay ovens. First of Mathur’s restaurants was the exquisite, now-shuttered Devi: opened in 2004 in the Flatiron District, it quickly earned rave reviews – and was the first Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in the US. Then along came the prestigious Tulsi, which made its debut in early 2011 and which earned a Michelin star before the year was out. His other restaurants: Haldi, Malai Marke and Kokum also are listed as Michelin recommended.

We are honored that the great Chef Mathur will so graciously contribute his culinary art and fare to this communal effort towards supporting the programs and services for which our Gala raises funds!
