Ascend Services is expanding to include children

Ascend Services, Inc., announced Monday it is working with the Manitowoc County Human Services Department and has begun offering services to children with disabilities.

According to a news release, the expansion of services comes as a response to a large number of children with disabilities staying at home amid the pandemic.

The release said the new services will encompass center-based and home care services, including respite care and daily living skills training.

The release said the program has a team approach with the youth’s support system. Coordinators work closely with the participant's family, case manager and school personnel to ensure services are in alignment with what is being worked on in every environment.

Ascend Services, at 2818 Meadow Lane in Manitowoc, is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides services to individuals with exceptional abilities. For more information, visit ascendservicesinc.org or call 920-682-4663.

Manitowoc County 4-H Leaders Association said in a news release that the new 2020 Manitowoc County Plat Book and Wall Map are both available for purchase this holiday season.

The Plat Book indicates local roads and highways, property lines and owners, DNR land, as well as forest crop and managed forestland. The guide contains additional information about local wildlife and natural areas, county parks, city and village parks, town facility rentals, hiking and biking, disc golf, camping, skate parks, winter recreation, public hunting lands and contour lake maps. The cost of the book is $40.

Wall maps are large plat maps ideally suited to hang on an office or den wall for quick and easy reference. These maps combine and condense all the detail within the Manitowoc County Plat Book, providing an entire view of the county. The scale is approximately 1 inch equals .85 miles, and the overall printed map size is 36 inches by 48 inches. Wall maps are printed on 32-pound high-resolution coated bond paper and the cost is $75 and includes shipping. To order a wall map, call the Extension Office at 920-683-4169.

All proceeds from books and maps support 4-H educational trips; youth and adult 4-H leadership development; awards recognizing members who have achieved in their project work, awards acknowledging volunteers for their contribution to the program; special educational programs and opportunities that are offered; and other special events that are put on by the Manitowoc County 4-H Leaders Board and Association and available to youth and families countywide.
