A former teacher from the Denver Waldorf School in Colorado has generously put forward a $20,000 Matching Challenge Grant in support of the many Waldorf teachers living in retirement at the Fellowship Community in Spring Valley, NY.

All donations to this campaign between now and October 1st will automatically be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $20,000!

Earlier this Summer, a devastating fire broke out at Pine Lodge, a building at the Fellowship Community housing 11 senior residents and 2 Co-workers. The fire destroyed the entire building and all of the residents belongings.

One former Waldorf teacher and long-time friend of the Fellowship Community was devastated when she heard about the fire at Pine Lodge.

This teacher visited the Fellowship Community many times over the last decade, and during those visits was inspired to meet so many other former Waldorf teachers and dedicated Anthroposophists living at the Fellowship.

After the fire, this teacher was moved to offer to help the Fellowship Community in the form of a matching challenge grant.

The Fellowship Community has a long history and deep connection with Waldorf Education. The Fellowship was founded in Spring Valley in 1966, based on the teachings of Rudolf Steiner, and located next door to the Green Meadow Waldorf School and the Threefold Educational Foundation.

Because of the close philosophical and spiritual connection between Waldorf Education and the Fellowship, over the last 53 years hundreds of Waldorf teachers have chosen to live out their retirement at the Fellowship Community!

We are asking the entire Waldorf community - current and former teachers, parents, and alumni, to help with a donation to this matching challenge grant to support the Fellowship Community.

Contributions of any amount are welcome, and will make a huge impact!

Thank you for ensuring that those who have provided Waldorf Education to generations of students have a new, safe and comfortable home at the Fellowship Community in their most vulnerable years.

The Fellowship Community is a 501(c)(3) non-profit inter-generational community serving the needs of elders through the phases of aging, from independent apartment living to more direct care, all the way through the end of life, based on the principles of Rudolf Steiner's Anthroposophy.
