I am Isha Kapoor, a rising senior at Mayo High School and an officer of the MN Junior Academy of Science. Join me in saving a well-loved, long-standing tradition in Minnesota. The MN State Science and Engineering Fair needs help - it is currently running a $50,000 deficit, jeopardizing the ability to hold the fair in 2024 and years to come. The loss of the MN State Science and Engineering Fair would have highly devastating effects, terminating a platform that allows Rochester middle and high school students to present their research and win numerous awards and scholarships. Such an occurrence is likely to negatively impact students' motivation to pursue research projects.
For me personally, participating in State Science Fair since my middle school days has served as an exceptionally transformative experience - not only has it broadened my view of the STEM world, but it has allowed me to pursue the research path in a pre-collegiate setting, and acquire treasured friendships and connections. In 2022, the State Science Fair provided me with the amazing opportunity to attend the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). This all-expenses-paid trip allowed me to present my research on the global stage, connect with world-class science professionals, and collaborate with other student researchers from around the world. This unforgettable experience was my muse to pursue a career in STEM and research, and it would not have been possible without the opportunities granted by the State Science Fair.
