ABOUT

For Albuquerque, New Mexico new wave/synth-pop band Lindy Vision, family casts a shadow over everything. Lindy Vision is a black native (Jicarilla Apache Nation) sister band formed in Albuquerque, NM. The band's current lineup features Dorothy and Natasha Cuylear, following the departure of longtime member and sister Carla Cuylear in 2021.  The band has spent the last decade honing their unique sonic palette, a mix of dark ‘80s new wave, bouncy synth-pop, and ethereal indie-rock that has drawn comparisons to Santigold, M.I.A., ESG, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and more. In that time, their music has landed them on bills supporting The Specials, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Travis Thompson, Spoon, Durand Jones and the Indications, The Halluci Nation, DJ Shub & more.

Since 2014, the band has self-released all of their music, including 4 full-length studio albums, 3 EPS, and various singles. They are known for their raw unfiltered honesty in their music and their brave exploration of life as adult children of alcoholics and the aftermath of relationship building and healing their interpersonal relationships, especially as sisters.

1947 is the follow up album to the sister duo's first project, The Third Kind. It continues their exploration with self-recordings and storytelling. The sister's describe their motivation behind the creation of 1947 with the saying: "we do it for ourselves, we do it for you, we do it for the ancestors." 1947 captures the sisters' ability to continue to test their sonic boundaries with bouncy synth-pop landscapes sprinkled with rock-n-roll textures that tug at your heart strings.  On their latest album, the pair continue to work with the "best in the Southwest," Rio Grande Studios. The legend and the man himself, Kenny Riley (producer/engineer/owner) mixed and mastered their entire album (except track 8, Part-Time Lover continued). The pair describes working with Kenny as "effortless and familiar...he really captured the emotions of our songs."

The pair describes this new musical journey as a natural continuation of their ability to create synth-heavy soundscapes that provide a foundation for their introspective, emotionally raw musings as they explore sisters moving through adulthood together. It definitely feels like a strange time to be alive and the sisters explore this feeling in their music. This feeling of unrest and inequality. They persevere and keep doing the one thing that comes natural to them- expressing themselves through music.

1947 was released on April 17, 2024 on all major streaming platforms and is available for purchase exclusively on Bandcamp.
