A magical evening snowshoeing under a moon lit sky by Lake Tahoe's shore.

State Park Interpreters will be leading Nighttime Guided Snowshoe Tours exploring the natural and cultural history around the Hellman-Ehrman estate and Lake Tahoe shoreline in Sugar Pine Point State Park.

Why not a full-moon snowshoe tour this year? It's an odd year in terms of when is the full moon and when the moon rises. So we're going with the next best thing...a night snowshoe hike! See the park in a new light. Don't forget your headlamps!

For those new to snowshoeing, there will be a beginner's clinic at 5:00 pm. The Full Moon hike starts promptly at 5:30 pm near the restrooms on the Day Use side of the park (lakeside entrance, east side of Highway 89).

The program lasts approximately 1½ hours and costs $45 per person for adults. Children 12 and under are $25. The cost includes snowshoe rentals, park entrance, guided hike, and guaranteed fun! Wear warm, layered clothing and winter boots. This event is generously sponsored by West Shore Sports, and all proceeds from the tour benefit the Sierra State Parks Foundation's educational programming.

All ticket sales are final. Purchasing a ticket also means you agree to being photographed for Please check road closures (Hwy 89) and updates as needed. Visit the CalTrans website for up to date information on road conditions and closures at http://www.dot.ca.gov/. We will also send a courtesy email if the event has to be canceled.
