RSVP: Protect Juristac: Sacred Grounds Presentation & Action Hour
 April 15th and May 20th, 7:00-8:30PM | Share on FB at https://www.facebook.com/events/274676964088392

Are you interested in helping SF Bay Area Indigenous people preserve their sacred land?  The Amah Mutsun Tribal Band’s sacred ground of Juristac, at the southern end of the Santa Cruz Mountains west of Gilroy, is threatened by a proposed open pit sand and gravel mine. This also endangers the rich ecosystems the tribe’s stewardship has protected throughout its history.

Join us on April 15th, or a future Third Thursday, to learn how you can help defeat this mine, and to take action together.Developed by First Unitarian Church of San Jose and approved by the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band, this narrated slide program is 25 minutes long, followed by Q&A. It features interviews with Amah Mutsun Chair Valentin Lopez and summarizes the history of the tribe, the waves of colonization they have survived, their cultural recovery and their efforts to defeat the gravel mine proposed for their sacred grounds of Juristac.

Event hosted by South Bay Indigenous Solidarity & Friends of Juristac - Santa Cruz.
