Heather Chapman, LCSW-C

Heather Chapman, LCSW-C is Vice President, Neighborhood Zones, United Way of Central Maryland and founder of Heather Chapman, LLC Wellness. Heather graduated from the University of Virginia with Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Psychology and Sociology. She obtained her Masters of Social Work Degree from University of Maryland School of Social Work in 2004.

Heather is cofounder of the Ben Franklin Center for Community Schools, which is a nationally recognized model for community schools. Through the Ben Center and other opportunities, she has developed and managed various clinical social work programs ranging from juvenile justice to outpatient mental health to school and community based programming for over 15 years. Heather has worked in foster care, higher education and non-profit management. In her current work, she oversees Neighborhood Zones around the Central Maryland region, working alongside residents, partners and staff, listening and building on assets in communities to co-create sustainable strategies that assist to further strengthen communities. Several evenings a week, she provides therapy through her private practice.

In addition to this work, she serves as: Governor appointed member of the State Advisory Board for the Department of Juvenile Services, Governor appointed member of the Juvenile Justice Reform Council, Board Secretary, National Association for Children of Addiction, Governor appointed member of the State Commission on Trauma Informed Care, Board member City of Refuge Baltimore and Maryland Trauma Informed Schools Task Force.
