Dear Vic,
Yesterday afternoon wrapped up the first week of Dr. Scott Warren's re-trial on federal harboring charges. One by one, desert aid volunteers, members of our legal team and medical team, and even a doctor from the Pima County Medical Examiners Office - the office responsible for identifying the remains of those who have passed in the desert - got up to testify to the crisis of death and disappearance unfolding on our public lands and of the vital need No More Deaths serves in alleviating suffering and preventing death. You can read the full wrap-up of the first week here.
If you are wanting right now to find ways to help us in this lifesaving work, but can’t come to Arizona to be at court or in the desert, the best way to support us is by becoming a monthly sustainer of our work. We rely on a wide, distributed community of compassion for financial support. A monthly donation of $10 might not seem like it would have a big impact, but it adds up to a critical amount of funds that we can rely on each and every month. Monthly donations of any amount help sustain the work of No More Deaths through the summer months when donations wain but the temperature rises. Also, for three days only, we're hosting a #DropTheCharges online pop up shop! A group of dedicated volunteers spent all day Friday screenprinting outside the Tucson courthouse and now we've got t-shirts, patches, bumper stickers, prints and package deals. Wearing No More Deaths merch is a great way to start conversations with your friends and family about the crisis of death and disappearance in our borderlands and about the dangerous precedent posed by Scott's case. Get yours before it's all gone.
Please follow us on social media for updates this coming week. We expect the verdict to come down some time mid-week. And, as always, thank you so much for your ongoing support. We could not do this work without you.
